That's right my loves, I need an actual nursery for an actual very miniature human due this August. Go Team Smith Member #3! And finally, I think I might have a winner here.
First, The Buys:
This crib is only $110 on Amazon and is this gorgeous kind of lagoon green.
The wall decal will be $65 for a 5ft piece. I don't expect us to be owning, so I think this removable wall decal is just perfect. I love the geometry mixed with whimsy, and I want to use those colors as our base. It's available here, and I love it enough to want to base the whole color scheme around it.
The rocker will either be this one or one just like it. I really love those tufts and the nailhead trim, and the rich blue color just seems both more practical and more fun than one of the neutral grey. My conflict here is on how few reviews there are online for all the rockers that I like, so I'm afraid of ordering and needing to return it. But we'll figure it out!
The DIYs:
The little mountain activity gym is nice and simple, easy to build and will be the perfect hanging space for all the little stuffies and trinkets I'm already sewing to dangle from.
The book browser on the lower right will be similar to this one, but bigger so that it actually has 3 or 4 openings in the middle. I'm going to ask my mom or sister to do a mural on the flat sides once we choose a theme. We talked about cutting the edges so that these sides would be the silhouette of a wolf or a black bear.
The pyramid/house shaped storage wall is going to be perfect! I love the way it fits with the geometric lines in the wall decal, and the little dividers. This is going to be Dakota's big build. I originally had my heart set on an animal bookcase, but it's just a lot of effort and intricate work for something that the kiddo will outgrow pretty quickly. I like the idea of using a lot of open shelving to embrace a Montessori approach once we have a crawler on our hands who can get into their own items.
Decor:
I'd love to do a big branch with hanging star catchers at different heights for a window or near where the light comes in. I think baby would love that.
For above the crib, I think there could be a a great eye catching mobile using a bunch of colorful birds combined with a mossy nest and dreamcatchers.
I've already got a Himaylan salt lamp to put on a little nightstand next to that rocker, but I thought a tabletop HP lamp might be a fun build and would give me more options for soft light during night time feedings.
Soon it's going to be time to start crafting and building and buying and hoarding. I really think we have some winners here! The question is how I'm supposed to hold off until we move again in June!
