Taking a Second Look: Extend Those Sleeves

Bell sleeves weren't really a thing for quite some time now, and boy are they coming back for a resurgence. They add such fantastic drama to the silhouette, and I love the way that they border the line between girlish and chic. I have a  slightly similar black cocktail dress to Karlie's and I feel like a superstar when I wear it.

Let's take a little peek at some different styles. I feel like when bell sleeves are on a top, they generally lean towards a bohemian, hippy vibe. However the sharper the sleeves flare out, the more sophisticated the piece tends to be.

These tops don't feel bohemian in the slightest, and the more stiff, harsh material elevates the look. The wrapping on the left adds a ton of interest, and the creases on the right are a bit unapproachable, but I kind of appreciate them.

High fashion loves a good architectural silhouette, and although their takes don't tend to be street ready, they're still fun to look at. These are particularly alien and the blue reminds me of tulips for some reason.

Overall, I think the exaggerated bell sleeve is best done on solid colored, relatively loose dresses. I like the way they add flow and volume, and the downward angle parallels a good v-neck.

Are you a bell sleeve kind of girl or do you just imagine dunking a sleeve in your salad dressing?
