I've seen a lot of really glamorous rooms for a little girl recently, but a lot of them are a bit too princess or a bit too old Hollywood for me. I thought that this black/white/gold/pink space was a fun departure into the elegant while still appropriate for a little girl instead of some weird Mariah Carey stuff.
Using black and white seemed like a great way to play on the traditional Scandinavian monochrome. Instead of making them sharp and geometric, here it's more indulgent and glamorous when you add gold as the accent.
For me, the standout pieces are the multiple bubble chandelier, and the ornate dresser. That chair doesn't look like the most comfortable thing ever, but I like the way the spindling matches the Jenny Lind crib. The iron in the corner shelving unit and the key hooks seemed to ground things a bit compared to doing more metallics.
Adding large tissue paper roses to the walls, and dangling flowers above the crib soften the space into a nursery. The kites add a touch of whimsy and could be done in the multiple pink tones at the bottom of the set. For me, this was a fun way to make a space that was more little girl than baby girl, and I love the idea of getting a few more years out of a room.
What do you think? Does it seem like a little Madeline kind of space, or do you prefer more child-like themes?
