The one decor item in your home that is actually intended to be functional (err.. except maybe a decorative, yet useful shower curtain?) is the good old time-teller! An alien visitor would conclude that clocks hold a place of honor in most Western homes, and maybe someday we'll get lucky and they'll think we worship a 12 marked God!

Scandinavia: Everyone's Dream Land

There's nothing original about a liberal claiming that Scandinavia is the promised land of happiness, productivity and a harmonious society, so I'm well aware that I'm not exactly cracking new territory here. But just for kicks, let's take a quick little journey through some of the best aspects.

Taking a Second Look: Swedish Folk Embroidery

Let's talk Scandinavia. Those people are absurdly good at an absurd number of things. They're classy and happy and their modern style and muted color palette makes my heart sing. We're going to look at the Dala Horse, the Mora Clock, Rosemaling before we get to my current fashion crush, Swedish folk embroidery. 

I'm a big lover of the traditional Swedish Dala Horse, which were once children's toys and have now become a symbol of the province in which they originated and of Sweden itself.
