FCF: Fresh Off the Boat's Constance Wu

Constance Wu is a hybrid Woman Crush Wednesday and Fashion Crush Friday because she looks fantastic plus she consistently uses her platform for social activism. If you're mistreating women or whitewashing your latest movie, Constance Wu will find you and eloquently kick some ass. You'll want to take a peek at her analysis of the white savior trope in Matt Damon's Great Wall and her disgust for sexual harasser Casey Affleck's Supporting Actor win for Manchester by the Sea.

Besides being a lady warrior, she also has a really distinct dressing pattern for the Red Carpet that accentuates her frame!

Constance has a very petite frame that she highlights with wide shoulders, voluminous fabrics and a nipped in waist. Here the silky blue on the left and the rich velvet on the right drape around her frame without ever swamping it. 

 

The same basic frame outline holds true in this stunning white dress with watercolor details, and the metallic stripes on this black piece.

In terms of her fun gear, she's actually pulling off a monochrome jumpsuit successfully! Finally, someone has properly tailored the length to end just above the floor. It's so awkward watching people drag an extra few inches of hem around!

This short black number is so flirty with the universal scalloping. I have slightly wide shoulders so I could never get away with it, but I love the way the scalloping is repeated on all of her trim.
