Fashion Crush Friday: Karen Gillan

What I love about Karen is that she's one of the least "fashion" people that I've profiled so far. She really doesn't come across as anything other than a pretty girl doing her best to pick things that flatter her and work with her style. She doesn't scream designer and her choices are pretty simple, so she feels like one of those girls whose style is attainable.

I may be a bit biased because Amy Pond was my preferred Doctor Who Companion, but I find Karen to be such a charming, endearing little gazelle. There's something distinctly U.K. about her style (the oxfords, maybe?) that elevates her girl on the street game.
I try not to ship people in real life, because I'm aware that that's weird. But in the perfect world where I'm in charge, Karen Gillan and Matt Smith are meant to be. She's a sweet Scottish girl and he's a nice English boy who does the washing up for his mom. Match made in heaven.Seeing them wandering around together is simply too cute to handle, plus when they did press it was like painfully high levels of chemistry.

But I digress...  I like the way Karen always seems to be having a bit of fun on the red carpet. I love the sleeve detail on this white dress, and the multi part draping on the right. And because she's Karen, she adds something a bit rugged with the boots. The third poppy patterned dress is just gorgeous. It's playful but mature, and the decision to pull her hair straight back keeps things from being too busy.

I will always love women who wear little boots and oxfords with short skirts. It creates such a fabulous balance of conservative and fun. It's a playful, a bit less basic than ballet flats, and still a bit constrained. There's a lot of earth tone going on here, which plays well with her coloring.

The hair by the way, is just fabulous. I think past FCFs confirm that I've got a real spot of envy for redheads. Karen's street pattern seems to be looser tops, fantastic menswear shoes, and short and lean bottoms. I basically live for tucking my shirt in like a boy scout, so I appreciate that she does, too!

I'll leave you with this delicious paparazzi snap of Karen & The Babes. The heyday of the hipster was a glorious time, no?
