I wasn't really aware of Marion Cotillard until I saw her in Inception, and obviously found her magnetic in the haunting your ex-husband mentally kind of way. She's an extremely accomplished French actress. She has that Continental sophistication that you expect, but she can also be a bit fun and irregular. She caught my eye recently because of her promotional tour for Allies, with Brad Pitt, which she's taking on in her second or third trimester. I thought it would be fun to look at the way she's kept her style consistent while accommodating her bump.
She obviously knows just what to do with an LBD. I like the cutaway shoulders on the right and the hi-lo hem line on the left balancing with the many layered skirt.
These are some really fun details. These are true mermaid scales on the left with a va-va-voom silk glove fit, and on the right she has another unusual neckline with some whimsical gold accents.
I love the way these dresses are discrete and ladylike, but are all about the narrow waist and the swirling rouching and tucking at the neckline.
So when she got pregnant what did she do?
She stayed quirky with some great textures, like the velvets in this mustard yellow and jewel green.
When she didn't go for lots of embellishment, she kept interesting and unique silhouettes with the long train in the black and the super low drop waist on the left.
I feel like she's a great example of someone who stayed glamorous and flattering but never fussy. She really does dress her age, but gives the impression that she's still having fun and experimenting. Not to mention, girl knows how to rock a dangling drop earring!
Have you seen any of her French language movies?
She was amazing in La Vie En Rose, playing Edith Piaf. Highly recommend.
