Decorating the Nest: Stained Glass

Stained glass, especially imitation Tiffany lamps, are a hot point of contention in the design sphere. Some despise them as outdated Grandma pieces. Let's hope for my sake that this just means that they stay affordable for the newlywed on a budget.

Despite the popular image, stained glass isn't all soft florals and desk lamps.

There are some great modern screens around and hanging pieces around. The bare tree on the left with its browns and creams doesn't feel gaudy in the slightest. On the right, this streamlined modern pineapple is perfect for coastal decor.

This honeycomb hanging piece fits in with the popular geometric trend these days and the overlap adds a nice depth to the piece.

Then there's the geeky pop culture potential. Instead of a college era poster of your favorite characters maybe you'd like a stained glass commission instead. If people are having Totoro turned into a glass door, I'm thinking the sky's the limit.

One of the most common places for stained glass is in the bathroom. The connection to sea glass is understandable, and these are great pieces to stare at from the bath!

And if you're a lucky enough soul to be building a custom green house, please, please shell out for this show stopper of a roof. Wow! What do you think, readers? Any interest in stained glass for your next window hanging or bedside lamp, or does it still feel a bit too Grandma?
