In today's tidbits that you didn't ask for, I can offer the fun fact that I am a huge, huge, huge bath taker. Like I cannot even summon the energy to pretend to be sorry about it. I've been known to exceed an hour and a half soak on a Sunday afternoon. A cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of red wine, plenty of salts in the tub, and a stack of magazines or my Kindle and I'm good to go. My husband does regular checks to determine whether or not I've drowned, which is pretty romantic.
For a lot of people focusing on the tub when designing bathroom isn't really ideal because it sees a lot less use than the shower. I can definitely see merit in that view for the average house, but I think it's one of those cases where it really depends on the home owners lifestyle. Working on floor plans is one of my mini obsessions, and I think it's essential to financially prioritize the rooms where you spend the most time.
That means that for Team S, the bathroom is worth investing in. My husband can go in for like a 40 minute shower, so we've always wanted a big, stone paneled, double nozzled, standing shower. And a free standing tub would be the perfect compliment.
I love the roundness and balance in these two and the sense of symmetry. I think I've developed an obsession with clean, smooth lines that is getting concerning. I am obsessed with how deep they are and the idea of basically having an indoor hot tub. Japanese Soaking Tubs are going to be the next thing in home remodels, I swear.
Something about a copper or bronze tub has always seemed very rustic French chic to me, and I love the raised oval effect of this white tub on the left.
Sunken tubs look really streamlined and modern and luxurious, but are really just a change in the tub's height if you think about it. This seems like a great sunroom feature.
What do you think? Are you a soaking addict like me, or is it just not your thing?
