Decorating the Nest: Shower Curtain Center Pieces

Oh Shower Curtains, the unfairly neglected canvas of the bathroom. Think fast- is there any piece of art in your home that's bigger than your shower curtain? If there is, feel free to stop reading this blog now because you're obviously too classy for me.

Shower Curtains don't need to be cheesy awkward things from Wal-Mart anymore, grabbed as the ultimate after thought, or even worse as some grand color scheme foundation that's based around a random bath mat. The opportunities to embellish your bathroom all start with an unexpected, fun, and dare I say sophisticated shower curtain. Let's take a look at some of today's trends.

Nautical: Alright, we all saw this one coming, but at least these ships are embellished illustrations instead of awkward tropical fish! The ship on the left has probably been the most pinned shower curtain of all time, but it still feels fresh and different to me. Similarly, I love the animals escaping from the swirling waves on the right.

Scandinavian Black and White: ...might be the center of the known design world at this point. This Ikea dripping faucet curtain is only $7.99 and I am obsessed. It's very much on my list to buy on the Ikea trip that my husband will keep avoiding for the next 6 months. I also love the Ferm half moons which might have the added benefit of elongating the visual appearance of your shower.

Florals: A hipster's garden dream is a minefield of succulents in mini, ironic pots. If you want to go floral without looking your grandmother, any of these could be the right choice. I genuinely like the Southwestern colors in the succulent curtain, and a stripes/floral hybrid is the perfect preppy, Kate Spade vibe. Anthro, as always, has their finger on the pulse with this black based, oversized botanical piece.

By now you're probably wondering what we've got hanging up, and I never like to disappoint. I wanted something kind of simple and I've been pleased with the quality of this Bed Bath & Beyond offering. But, 2017 might be the Year of the House, and I'd love to have another option up my sleeve.
Do you go cheap on your shower curtains, or do you like to invest?
